Creating safe and inclusive spaces for children to embrace their true selves within their schools

We believe that as institutions of formal education, schools play a central role in the foundational learning and development of children. The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 has stressed a multidisciplinary, holistic and integrated approach to education, highlighting the development of creative potential, social, ethical and emotional capacities as aims of education in addition to the development of cognitive capacities. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE), 2023 has accordingly placed art education among the thrust areas, acknowledging the role of arts in enabling creativity, social-emotional development and overall well-being of the students, and facilitating immersive, experiential and cross-disciplinary learning.

The objective of our intervention at the school level is twofold.

  • Structural integration of art as a pedagogy in the school education system.

  • Establishing social-emotional learning and competencies as a necessary outcome of education. Our programmes are primarily implemented in lower primary and higher secondary government schools for students from grades 3-10. We aim to support low-resource schools in need of interventions like art education, materials and supplies, and a creative learning environment.
